IDIOT006 Acid Jacks – Pump It Up

A long time ago two guys were forcibly put together in a wrestling ring and were body slammed into what we know today as the Acid Jacks. One of the very first tracks they wrote together was Pump It Up way back in 2005 and until now has never been formally released. At the same time Acid Jacks also befriended Drop The Lime and (after discovering a mutual love of the 909 snare drum) to which he did two remixes, in one of the first appearance of his Curses! moniker. But enough name-dropping. Pump It Up is an electric funk-a-licious, happy go lucky track, with plenty of high absorbent fat for the dance floor. Remixes here include the rave induced Curses! mix, the ghetto-tek, bounce heavy Jackmaster remix and Honeysmack’s in-techno-we-trust banging tek remix. Look out for a second remix package later this year.

IDIOT004 Honeysmack – Snare Stare EP

Since we began Idiot House, it gave me a chance to go through a shit load of DATS of unreleased stuff – yes we are talking some pretty old recordings, going back some ten to fifteen years ago. One of the first DATS I pulled out had these four tracks on them. We did an Acid Jacks edit to one of them and mastered them up. These are pure raw analogue tracks, with no computer or software used in any of these recordings. Matter-of-fact, I didn’t even own a computer back then. Yes I am Honeysmack, yes I am one half of Acid Jacks, and yes this is acid.

IDIOT003 Jackmaster – Back 2 Back EP

Slamming 909 recipe – You will need the following ingredients: • Half of Acid Jacks: Jackmaster • 1 x Roland TR-909, programmed a la jack • 1 x various blend of rave stabs • 1 x Backapella • Healthy dose of digi bass (use the fat induced one for alternative tastes) Directions: mix one half of Acid Jacks (Jackmaster) and blend heavily with a tight 909. When the 909 is nice and firm, hysterically add the rave stabs. Don’t add too many as this can “over cook” your mix. When you begin rocking, carefully add the Backapella. Cook all over a really really high heat. As a variation you can add the digi bass to taste for a different mix. Jackmaster suggests always serving this recipe on any dance floor. The Backapella may also be served on its own as a side dish – wonderfully slamming! Idiot House recommends a dry red wine.

IDIOT002 Paradise Is Now – Cloud Machine EP

We first came upon the mysterious techno-teers known as Paradise Is Now via a bulletin board on repairing analogue synths, way back in 1989. Although its been almost twenty years since we first made contact, we still haven’t met them face to face nor know how many people make up Paradise Is Now. Recently they contacted us with instructions that Idiot House be the chosen vehicle for their output. After one listen to the schizophrenic electronic hieroglyphics that they pass for music, how could we refuse! The title track, Cloud Machine oozes into your subconscious, like falling asleep at thirty thousand feet on a Boeing 747-800 heading into Luxembourg on a cold summer morning. It’s bubbly 303 line merges both European and Detroit techno alike. According to their second track Asteroid 9.3 is part of some greater techno symphony to be released at a later point. We were given 18 different versions on various D.A.T.S., that remain lying around our office, but after one listen to this 909 pounding monster we think you get the idea. Final track, Drive Time begs the question “Do cars have feelings?” Paradise Is Now believe they do and have managed to compose a campaign of electronic mayhem to further “help cars understand humans”. Weird huh? That’s what we think and that’s why we’re both honoured and relieved to release their debut EP.
